Introduction to Modeling
This half day course is designed to give the core knowledge for understanding and using integrated financial models. Best practice principles are explained, followed by the essential techniques for building integrated models. If you are a user of models this will equip you to navigate and understand models. It will also explain the essential functions you need and their pitfalls.
If you are overwhelmed when opening large financial models and don’t know how to get to grips with them, this course is for you.
Delegates who sit this course often go on to complete the Full 2 day modeling course. If you have a strong interest in Financial modeling it is suggested you consider the 2 day course as well.
The Full 2 day course starts with the half day introduction course and builds on the core principals and ‘SCILS’ learnt by building a fully integrated model from scratch. A case study is used to step through the techniques and modules needed to build sophisticated, flexible models. You will benefit most from this course if you have a good grasp of financial fundamentals and are already proficient with Excel.
This course is the first step on the road from ‘Excel wiz’ to professional financial modeller and will show you how to get the best out of the spreadsheet as a tool for forecasting and decision making.
Introduction to Excel for Professionals
Regardless of your level of Excel use this course has benefit for everyone. Throughout the day you will learn all of the common tips and tricks used to navigate through Excel. Touching on basic model building and skills to prevent common mistakes occurring.
This course is designed for young professionals and graduates entering a career that will inevitably use Excel. The course is not for the faint hearted and a lot is packed into the day allowing for a Q&A session at the end of the day. We see a lot of participants who take this course again on the ‘Introduction to modeling’ course as it is a good stepping stone for those new to using Excel professionally.
Our newly launched model review course teaches participants the key techniques for testing and evaluating existing models with the objective of identifying and eliminating a range of common errors.
The course explores built-in Excel functionality and a variety of software tools to analyse spreadsheet models. We describe processes for managing a model review, how to identify areas of risk and potential errors in the logic of a model.
This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to test their own or third party models. It is also suitable for those who are responsible for the results of a model and need an appreciation of the risks and how to eliminate them.

Whether you have built or inherited a model that you no longer feel functions adequately or have simply lost faith in then this is the course for you.
